Many of us want to pray more, and then freeze at the blank page. There is so much to bring to God that we do not know where to begin — so we begin nowhere. A prayer journal quietly solves this. It gives your prayers a place to land.
You do not need a beautiful hand or the right words. You need a page and a few honest minutes. Here is a simple way to start.
1. Keep it small
Five minutes is plenty. A habit you can keep beats an hour you dread.
2. Begin with thanks
Write down one thing you are grateful for before you ask for anything. Gratitude softens the heart and settles the mind.
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
3. Name what you are carrying
Write the worry plainly, then hand it over.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
4. Copy one verse to dwell on
Write a single line of Scripture in your own hand and let it stay with you through the day.
5. Leave room to listen
Prayer is a conversation. Leave a few blank lines to notice what rises — a name to pray for, a nudge, a quiet peace.
6. Come back tomorrow
Date your pages. Over the weeks you will look back and see how faithfully your prayers were met.
If you would like a companion made for exactly this, our Companion Journal pairs a King James verse with gentle prompts for each day — room to reflect, give thanks, and pray.
