Fearfully and Wonderfully Made: Discovering Your Worth in Christ

There is a quiet voice that follows a lot of us through the day. Not pretty enough. Not doing enough. Not enough, period. It compares. It keeps score. And it is very good at making a full life feel small.

If you have heard that voice, you are not weak and you are not alone. But you do not have to believe it. Because the truth about who you are was not decided by the mirror, or by the numbers, or by the person who once made you feel like less. It was decided by the God who made you on purpose.

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
(Psalm 139:14)

Fearfully and wonderfully. Not carelessly. Not as an afterthought. You were formed with attention and love, down to the smallest detail. And it did not stop at how you were made. It reaches into who you now belong to.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
(1 Peter 2:9)

Chosen. Called out of the dark. That is not a description of a fraud. And here is the part that answers the “not doing enough” voice head-on:

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:10)

You are His workmanship. His craft. The good you are meant to do was prepared for you in advance — you don’t have to earn your place by outrunning it.

A gentle practice for today: take one lie you have believed about yourself, and write next to it what God says instead. “Not enough” — fearfully and wonderfully made. “A fraud” — His workmanship, chosen. This is what it means to renew your mind: not to try harder to feel worthy, but to trade the old thought for the true one, on paper, until it sinks in.

When old things pass away, new things come.
